Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Getting Started

Open SnapLayout, choose a layout, add photos from your camera roll by tapping each cell, adjust the design, and tap Export. The whole process takes under a minute.
Tap any empty cell in your layout and select Choose Photo to pick from your camera roll. You can also select multiple photos at once to fill all cells in one step. SnapLayout never modifies your original photos.
Open your project and tap the Ratio button in the toolbar. Choose from square (1:1), portrait (4:5 or 9:16), landscape (16:9), and more. Your photos reflow into the new ratio automatically.
Yes. Long-press a photo in a cell and drag it to swap it with another cell. You can also tap a cell and choose Replace Photo to swap it with a different image from your camera roll.
Use the Spacing slider in the design toolbar to adjust the gap between cells. Spacing can be set to zero for a seamless grid look, or increased for a more airy, editorial layout.
Yes. Tap a cell that already has a photo, then pinch to zoom in or out, and drag to reposition the image within the cell. Changes only affect that cell and do not modify your original photo.
Text overlays are available as a premium feature. Tap the Text button in the design toolbar, type your text, and choose the font, size, color, and position. Text layers can be moved and resized freely.
Yes. Shake your device or tap the undo button (↩) in the top toolbar to step back through recent changes. SnapLayout keeps a full edit history for the duration of your session.
On the home screen, tap the + button to start a new collage. Choose your layout, set your canvas format, and you're ready to add photos. All projects are saved automatically.
Yes. SnapLayout saves all your projects automatically on the home screen. Tap any project to continue editing. There is no limit to the number of projects you can have saved.

Export & Sharing

Watermark-free exports require a premium subscription. Free users will see a small "Made with SnapLayout" mark in the corner. Subscribe to remove it from all exports.
Blurry exports are usually caused by: (1) source photos taken at low resolution, (2) the free-tier export resolution cap — a premium subscription unlocks higher resolution exports, or (3) exporting as JPEG with high compression. Try Export Settings → Format: PNG for the sharpest results.
SnapLayout exports at the correct dimensions for Instagram (Feed, Stories, Reels), TikTok, Pinterest, Twitter/X, Facebook, and YouTube. After exporting, you save your collage to your camera roll and upload it to your platform of choice.
Premium subscribers can export at high resolution (up to 4K). Free users are capped at 1080px on the longest edge. Both tiers support PNG and JPEG formats.
Yes. Go to Export Settings and choose your preferred format. PNG gives the sharpest results with no compression. JPEG produces smaller file sizes and is suitable for most social media posts.
After exporting, tap Share and select Instagram from the iOS share sheet. SnapLayout will open Instagram with your image pre-loaded, ready to post to Feed, Stories, or Reels.
After building your carousel in SnapLayout, tap Export → Export All Slides. Your slides will be saved to your camera roll. Open Instagram, create a new post, select multiple photos in order, and post them as a carousel.
Yes. When working on a carousel project, tap Export → Export All Slides to save every slide to your camera roll in one step. All slides are exported at the same resolution and format.
TikTok uses a vertical 9:16 format (1080 × 1920px). SnapLayout includes a TikTok preset in the Ratio menu that sets the correct canvas size automatically — no manual configuration needed.
Yes. After tapping Export, choose Save to Camera Roll. Your collage will be saved as a high-resolution image in your Photos app. Premium subscribers get full-resolution saves; free users are capped at 1080px.

Layouts & Formats

SnapLayout includes a wide range of photo layouts covering single image, split, grid, and asymmetric styles. New layouts are added with each app update. All layouts are available to free users.
SnapLayout supports square (1:1), portrait (4:5, 9:16), landscape (16:9, 1.91:1), and custom canvas sizes. It includes presets for Instagram Feed, Instagram Reels, Instagram Stories, TikTok, Pinterest, Twitter/X, YouTube thumbnails, and print.
Tap the Layout button in the design toolbar to open the layout browser. You can switch to any layout at any time without losing your photos. SnapLayout automatically refits your images to the new layout.
Tap the Ratio button in the toolbar and choose your target ratio. Your current layout and photos will reflow to match the new canvas ratio automatically. You can fine-tune cropping per cell afterward.
Yes. In the Ratio menu, scroll to Custom Size and enter your preferred width and height in pixels. This is useful for print, presentations, or any platform not covered by the built-in presets.
For Instagram Feed, the best formats are square (1:1) or portrait (4:5). SnapLayout includes grid and split layouts that work well in both. The portrait format takes up more screen space in the feed, which can improve engagement.
Select the TikTok preset (9:16) from the Ratio menu. Then choose a layout, add your photos, and export. SnapLayout sizes your collage to exactly match TikTok's vertical format at 1080 × 1920px.
Yes. Choose the Stories preset (9:16) from the Ratio menu, pick a layout, add your photos, and export. The result is perfectly sized for Instagram Stories at 1080 × 1920px.
A carousel in SnapLayout is a multi-slide project. You design each slide individually using the same layout, then export all slides at once. Carousels support up to 20 slides and are sized for Instagram.
Yes. Most layouts in SnapLayout adapt to any canvas size. When you switch formats, the layout reflows automatically to fit the new ratio. This makes it easy to create the same collage for multiple platforms without starting over.
